Mexico was the first international country I visited. At first, I traveled with my parents to visit family as a child, and then the older I got, the more my curiosity grew to personally discover the richness of my family’s homeland, especially as a Mexican-American who wanted to reconnect to her roots.

Although I was born in the U.S. (California), my family is Mexican, and I was brought up in a very Mexican household, and spoke Spanish as my first language.

So far, I’ve been able to visit a few destinations from the bustling world class metropolis of Mexico City (4 times), to the culturally rich Guadalajara (Jalisco), the Mexican foodie hot spot of Oaxaca (Oaxaca), the soul of Mexico, Morelia (Michoacán), and of course, the Mayan paradise of Cancun (Quintana Roo).

Here are just a few of the tips I’ve accumulated about Mexico that will surely help you get started on your travel plans!
