The Best Reading Apps To Read Your Favorite Travel Books (With Free Options!)

Want to read your favorite travel books – for free?

Well, this post is for you!

Since leisure travel is currently drastically reduced, if even half as active at all, we are having to come up with creative ways to create our own adventures, and experiences from the place we currently call home.

Sometimes a good book, and in this case, a good travel book, read in a woodsy area like the park or under the tree in your backyard, and your favorite summer beverage are the key ingredients to help us invite in the good feels in, and to prepare our mind to open up to adventures encrusted within the pages of a book.

Apart from being one of the safest forms of travel that we can do right now, reading a good book is refreshing for the soul, the mind, and spirit.

Whether it’s a biography that has years and years of life experience condensed into 300 pages or so, a gripping thriller that makes your adrenaline levels fluctuate, similar to the way travel and adventure cause us, or the beautiful stories of travel, the discovery of adventure out in the world, and the enthrallment and vicarious living with each word.

So, without further ado, today I want to show you some of my favorite apps and tools to read travel books (any kind of book really) on, which have now more than ever, been a saving grace when it comes to finding stories that bring forth the vision and feeling of travel the best.

Let me show you my favorite reading apps, and in some of them, you can even read books for free!

Quick disclaimer: Some of these apps may only be available in the U.S, and some will require a library card at your local library – but others won’t, and some are completely free apps with books loaded on for your reading pleasure, so keep reading on to see which option is most suitable for you.

Also, if you are reading this list from outside the U.S., I hope this list can inspire you to find similar resources and your closest library that probably also has helpful and accessible platforms to read on.

So, let’s read on…

Hoopla

Hoopla is one of my favorite free reading apps to dive into an expansive library of books, on any subject!

It’s a platform that is available through your local library (most U.S. libraries are on it), and it allows people to access a wide selection of free books, movies, tv-series, audiobooks, and music.

It even has the capabilities to stream a movie onto your smart TV, which is super useful, as well as any other device!

Best of all, they keep adding more titles every day, so rest assured, there’s always variety and new media added to the app.

It’s definitely one of my favorites to use and share with others that don’t know about it…yet!

Check out Hoopla and see if this is a good deal for you to get started on reading your favorite travel books! to

OverDrive (Libby)

Another frequently used free reading app that I gravitate towards is OverDrive, as it also has a wide selection of books, audiobooks, movies, tv-series and videos, magazines, and more!

What I really like about OverDrive specifically is its attention to education resources and materials in general, so if you’re currently in school or have younger children, you can rest assured to find content that can help you maintain and retain information, no matter where you are.

Additionally, you’ll have access to books on every subject out there, and a good pool to choose from.

Check out Libby and the abundance of favorites and new favorite travel books!

Amazon Kindle Unlimited

Some people may be aware of this, and others may not like me lol so I have to put this one on the list!

I put this one on here because if you’re paying for prime, you automatically have access to a few titles inside Kindle Unlimited, which is a pretty good library selection of books in a variety of genres, at your disposal.

And I’m not just talking about articles summarizing books, I’m talking about the full book, New York Best Seller, books that actually interest you – in all their glory – and many of them are included in your membership, which is amazing!

I embarrassingly didn’t know about this in my 3 years of having Amazon Prime, so if this is you, now you know!

Check out Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited and see how many amazing books and travel favorite books are available here!

Blinkist

This is for those of you who say “I want to read but I just don’t have time!” I feel ya! I mean, chances are, we’ve all said this at some point in our lives, even though we had the desire to expand our minds with stories and helpful information.

And that’s precisely how Blinkist can be your next best reading app to try.

The main reason why I personally love Blinkist is because it offers both full-length audiobooks and ebooks, as well as summarized key insights in under 15 minutes for a variety of the titles they have on the app, which is super helpful!

I have personally found it helpful to read the 15-minute summaries of books that I am interested in reading, before jumping into the commitment of buying the book and reading it, only to find that sometimes it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for.

That in itself has saved me time (and money) and has helped me find the perfect book for the literary adventure I was looking to take.

Just imagine being able to consume even more information, in a shorter amount of time, especially if you are short on time. If you’re interested in joining, you can click here to read more about it for yourself.

The Law of Attraction Library – App

This one is probably one of my favorites, and not only because it’s completely free to use, including the decent size library of titles, but because of the type of content it has inside.

The name of the app should be a dead giveaway, but this app has everything from Neville Goddard’s work, to Napoleon Hill and so much more!

Because like I said, the app created by YouAreTheCreators.org and books are free to access, you will have to deal with ads popping up and such.

However if that doesn’t bother you while you’re reading some serious up-leveling content, then this free reading app is not one to miss!

Look it up on the App Store (I’m not sure if it’s available on Android or other tablets, but it’s definitely worth checking out).

Head over to this free reading app and unlock all the mindset and manifestation books!

Scribd

Very similar to Kindle Unlimited, Scribd is a reading platform that offers a wide variety of ebooks, audiobooks, as well as magazines for our viewing pleasures, with one of the major draws being the monthly price.

Scribd is $9.99 a month, which makes it a pretty good deal, especially if you’re just now getting into ebooks and audiobooks more, perhaps maybe you’re more of a physical book reader, and you want to try out ebooks and e-magazines.

If that is your case, this could be a good start for you.

And also if you just like a good deal, this is the one for you! They offer a 30-day free trial as well to test drive it.

Test drive it for a 7-day trial, and see for yourself if this can potentially be a fit for you!

I was using Scribd all of last year, and the major reason why I decided to stop my subscription recently was that as I mentioned above, I was unaware that I already had Amazon Kindle through my Prime subscription.

So, all that being said, it’s a good platform to get your reading on!

Head on over to Scribd and see if it would be a good fit for you and your reading needs!

And if now you’re wondering, well, this is AMAZING, now I want to read a book but I don’t know which one to start off with.

Well, have no fear, my friend, as I have created a post on Travel Books That Every Wanderluster Must Read – and best of all, they’re all under $10!

Concluding thoughts on the best reading apps to read your favorite travel books (with free options!)

So, here they are!

The reading apps that I’m currently using, and that I want to share with you if you weren’t aware of them.

I know this isn’t exactly groundbreaking, or even new to some of you.

However, I know that not everyone is always aware of all the different platforms available to read on, and sometimes even for free.

Hopefully, it served you in some way ☺️

To many more literary adventures that expand our minds now, and always.
