Whether you’re searching for that sense of wanderlust in times of little to no travel, or you miss the experience of connecting and making friends while you roamed the world (or both) – today’s post is sure to be one that will be of interest for you that will add those experiences and more!
Airbnb Online Experiences are such a unique way to “get out” a bit while staying home, by “traveling” to different parts of the world, and enjoying different experiences ranging from cooking classes, history lessons taught in unique and fun ways and so much more!
A browse through Airbnb’s site alone might start giving you soft travel vibes by seeing all there is to explore, right from home! Also, it’s just really cool to see how people have gotten creative in bringing to virtual life their tours, skills, and crafts to share with the world. Lastly, it’s such a great way to support these amazing tour guides, teachers, and skilled individuals who because of the pandemic have been going through challenging times.
Before we jump into the fun experiences, I want to share with you that if you’ve never made an account with Airbnb before, you can click get up to $15 off your first experience of $50 or more, which you should totally take advantage of!
Today, I want to share some of my favorite Airbnb online experiences to hopefully inspire you to look into some of these amazing experiences!
How do these work, exactly?
Good question! While each experience has its own way of managing their online tour/class/experience, the main way these experiences work is by browsing the main site with all the listings which you can find HERE.

Once you find an experience you might be interested in, you simply click on it to read the description, and if you decide you want to choose this experience, make sure to check out the time slot they’re offering the experience/class, and if it would work with your schedule. The times displayed (like you’ll find below) will be displayed in your local times.
After checking off on the time, you can check out the multiple ways in which you can participate in any of the virtual experiences, if there is anything you’d need to prepare for (if it’s a cooking class for example), or anything else dependent on the nature of the experience.
How does one participate in these experiences?
Again, it may vary from experience to experience, so double-check that before booking your experience! For the most part, all experiences can be joined by any kind of device, and are usually taking place on Zoom so make sure you have that ready to go on the device you’ll be joining with.
So without further ado, let’s get inspired with some pretty amazing experiences you can do from the comfort of home, enjoy!
Food and drink classes
The Experience of Making Almond Milk on a Sicilian Farm
Location: Sicily, Italy
From their description:
“From our little organic farm, this is an occasion to learn the difference between the plant-based drink you can buy at the supermarket and the real original recipe. Almonds were first cultivated in Sicily 2000 thousand years ago. As you can imagine, there’s a long and deep tradition between Farmers and Almonds here and a huge number of ways to use them in the kitchen. The medieval recipe is still alive in our Region so we are happy to share how to make and how to use it today.”
How cool is this!? If you ever wanted to learn how to make your own almond milk, here’s your chance! Also, the experience of making it “on” a farm in Sicily with two chefs is pretty cool. The price to join starts at $17 per person, and they have thriving reviews claiming how informative, fun, and genuine the hosts/chefs are. Because this is a cooking class, there will be things to prepare for such as ingredients and utensils, but it’s not super complicated.

Easy and delicious Montreal-style Bagels

Location: Montreal, Canada
From their description:
“Learn all about the culinary delight that is Montreal Bagels! You’ll learn how they’re different from American/NYC bagels (so many differences!), as well as lots of fun info all about bread-making and working with yeast. Then, let’s bake up a batch of homemade bagels – you’ll be surprised at how easy it is!”
What I really love about this cooking experience is that not only are you learning cultural differences between American and Canadian favorites, such as bagels but also you’re learning it from a passionate professional! Jess the host is the owner of Lincoln Apartment Bakery in Montreal, and a TV host for the baking tv show Flour Power, so she definitely knows what she’s talking about! It’s such a cool experience not to miss, and get a taste of (pun intended). You can either follow along and bake with her, or you can watch the pro and take notes! The ingredient list is super easy to purchase with no special instruments to buy! What are you waiting for??
Let’s Cook & Eat Osaka Style Okonomiyaki
Location: Nishi-ku, Osaka, Japan

From their description:
“Have you tried Okonomiyaki? Let’s enjoy cooking Osaka soul food Okonomiyaki (Japanese pizza / savory pancake)!
I will teach you the most simple way to cook, so you can cook Okonomiyaki at home! After cooking, let’s eat together and have a chat!
If you can prepare some ingredients, we can cook at the same time!”
What I really love about this experience is that not only do you get to cook and learn from Keiko, but you also get to sit down afterward while you’re both enjoying the food you just made, and chat a bit! It really is like being there, and making those connections with people you meet! Something else to note is that even though this experience is based in Japan, the times offered are very do-able for those of us in North America, with some of those times being 7:00pm CST! Definitely, a cool experience to try, gift, or even do with your friends virtually and have a chat all together afterward!
Experience Making Limoncello on the Amalfi Coast

Location: Salerno, Italy
From their description:
“I will virtually guide you in a lemon garden talking about how we use lemons and about what makes this quality so special. As locals, we never buy limoncello as typically it’s homemade. But you have to know the secrets, this is what you need!
I will share with you the recipe of my family to make the best limoncello ever. I will then show you step by step the process to make this liqueur and you can then prepare yourself this refreshing drink for your family and friends.
It’s perfect to enjoy it after a good dinner.”
The views, the limoncello, it’s like you can almost taste the smell of the sea and smell of fragrant lemons of the Amalfi. This is such a special, amazing, and beautiful experience that will not only give you the views and limoncello, but also a unique experience to learn more about other ways to use lemons and how they add a beautiful fragrant taste in other dishes. What an amazing experience to take part of!
History tours

Entertainment
Experience An Evening with a Flamenco Composer

Location: Madrid, Spain
From their description:
“We will enjoy an intimate Flamenco Guitar Concert in Madrid, we will dive into the history of Flamenco through the sounds and melodies of the guitar.
You will be able to differentiate all the codes the flamenco musicians use in their concerts and understand how they communicate with each other during their improvisation. You will see how we compose our music based on the ancestral culture of the Iberian Peninsula.
The songs are composed by myself and based on the true flamenco traditions, the point of this experience is to get a connection with the music by what the Moorish called “duende”, which brings clarity and knowledge through the rhythms and melodies.”
What an amazing time this would be! This is ultimately an intimate concert, with a Spanish guitarist who will not only serenade you but also educate you on Spanish guitar and the culture behind their music. How cool! Bring your friends, make it a concert night and book one of his (really accommodating) time slots and feel like you’re listening live inside a cave in Granada or a bar in Madrid.
